Our vision is to transform the world through the power of the Gospel.

We exist to make, equip, and release fully committed followers of Jesus

RockFish Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-based, Spirit-led, family focused Christian church. We believe that a great commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will grow a healthy church. We value God’s word, strong families, unity, ministry, Christ-life change, and reaching out.

Core Beliefs

Values

Love is the greatest of values in the kingdom of God. Love is the observable evidence of the presence of God in the life of a follower. Love is the antidote to a life of mediocrity wasted on the pursuit of me and mine. Love is the image, power, and personality of God shining in a dark world. Love is our great quest!

We will lead by example. We will honor Christ and His church with integrity. If we live with integrity, nothing else matters. If we don’t live with integrity, nothing else matters.

People are not interruptions to your ministry, they are the ministry! People are the point! Jesus never died for a Podcast. Jesus spent the majority of His time building into people. Everyone matters to God and should matter to us. It’s often the little things: Am I growing in treating other staff, volunteers, and members like family.? Am I consistently friendly? Am I growing in demonstrating care, concern, and respect for others? Am I responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner? Do I show up to meetings on time? Do I get excited making someone else successful?

We will serve the Lord with gladness. Being spiritual doesn’t mean being miserable! Traditionally, church and fun don’t go hand in hand. The next generation will be influenced by Christians who are vibrant, inspirational, confident, and joyful. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not endured. Let’s take God seriously, but not ourselves. Lighten up! The joy of the Lord is still our strength.

Flexibility means we say YES to God. We adjust to His way. His time, and His will. Flexibility means we don’t break under pressure, and we spring back quickly from opposition. Flexibility keeps us always ready to help and bring value whenever needed. Flexibility means availability for God and His agenda.

To reach people that no one is reaching, we will have to do things that no one is doing. This means we surround ourselves with people who really believe that “with God all things are possible”. Faith allows us to see beyond the opposition and fearlessly embrace the opportunity. Faith releases the potential of God in every aspect of life. We are people of faith.

We are all “us”. All people are created in the image of God! All people matter to God! There is far too much division in our culture and sadly, in our churches. We believe a unified church could be God’s way of healing the divisions in our community and culture. Racism, discrimination, injustice, and division break the heart of God. We believe diversity is a picture of eternity. We are doing something here on Earth that is in anticipation of what is to come. We begin with the end in mind.

Commitment is more than just doing the status quo or the bare minimum. We believe that Jesus has called His followers to be second-mile followers. The bare minimum is the first mile (Matthew 5:41). We are called to exceed expectations in all that we do. Whether that’s in your family, at your job, or in church service, we should go above and beyond. Why? Because we do everything as unto the Lord. Jesus didn’t call us to be half-hearted but fully devoted. The things that Jesus cares about should be front and center in our lives. Good intentions are not enough, thoughtful follow-through is required.
Outreach is the result of obedience to the commandments of scripture. The teachings of Jesus are held as the highest pursuit of church and Christian living. He instructs His followers to reach every person with the good news of the Gospel, calling them to repentance and faith that leads to salvation. The followers are commanded to “go unto all the world and make disciples.” This is the very heartbeat of the outreach of RockFish Church.

We are forever married to the mission, not the method. Innovation is the ability to remain engaged and effective no matter what change or challenge may arise. Innovation keeps us positioned in the most strategic place for optimal results. Innovation is a powerful key to maintaining relevance in an ever-changing world. We are innovators.

God is the king of creativity. We are each a living breathing example of God’s artistic expression. We are fearlessly creative in our expression of God’s love for Humanity. God has equipped us with tools of creativity to use in the advancement of His kingdom. We will embrace the Creator in joyful expressions of creativity.
Health is more important than growth. Nothing great happens through you until it happens in you! The closer you get to the core of a church, the healthier it should be! The best gift we ever give our ministries is spiritual and relational health. Therefore, we are committed to daily Bible study and prayer, weekly experiencing God in worship, and living with accountable relationships in a small group. We are committed to remembering that the most important person you will ever lead is yourself!
We are called to be servants, not celebrities. No staff thrives when the people in it catch the disease of me. The moment we start thinking our part is bigger than what we are a part of, it begins to destroy culture and bring separation. We are called to care more about Jesus’ fame than our own. At RockFish, we like to keep the main thing the main thing, which is glorifying God, not ourselves or yourself.
We will dig holes in roofs! Just like the friends of the paralyzed man dug a hole in a roof to get their friend to Jesus, we will go to great lengths to get people in front of Jesus. Why? Jesus believed people were worth it! Worth the work, the cost, and the chaos. Worth laying His life down for. We are helping people see Jesus who might not see Him any other way. We are called to be fishers of people! Let’s stay committed to putting more hooks in the water!

Tony McVickers

Senior Pastor

Tony McVickers is the Senior Pastor of RockFish Church. He has a bachelor’s degree in Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary. His vocational history includes owning multiple businesses, in which he never failed to keep the gospel message front and center.

Tony communicates in an energetic and witty style that will challenge you to take an honest, but often humorous, look at yourself through the lens of God’s Word. If his caring and candor propels you toward being a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ, that will give him something big to celebrate.

He has been married to Kimberly for 20 plus years, and they have four children.

If he could choose a Star Wars character to be a part of his family, he would pick Yoda because he is small and won’t eat too much. And he’ll never offer him anchovies, a despised food Tony thinks should be banned from the planet!
